MR&S was founded in 1985 during the
first phase of the PC revolution. It specialized in PC rentals. Shortly
after the company began, the tax law changed. PC rentals became less
profitable. MR&S terminated all PC rentals and shifted its business to
computer system/software sales. Following the cessation of rental
operations the company grew dramatically, becoming a nationally respected,
$100 million, value-added reseller. The Company sought and fought to win
contracts to supply major corporations with computer products. The first
success came in 1987 when MR&S was awarded a VAR contract to supply
the computer needs of General Motors Corporation.
This contract proved to be a key milestone
in MR&S' history. It gave the company valuable experience in
establishing solid relationships with a Fortune 100 corporation, as well
as, providing a framework for establishing a service and quality control
program capable of meeting the expectations of a Fortune 100 client. It
also provided a critical mass of sales which made further growth possible.
In 1991, MR&S won an important VAR
contract with AT&T. This allowed the company to earn its place as a
major force in the VAR world. By focusing on superior service and
operational excellence, MR&S was able to establish its value to
AT&T. Our focus on quality was rewarded further when the newly formed
Lucent Technologies, awarded one of three approved VAR contracts to MR&S.
Today, both of these companies have approved only three VAR's for computer
purchases. We are proud to be one of the three.
In 1996, MR&S took positive action to
bolster its contract VAR position and improve its service to corporate
clients. The Company revamped its quality control and operations system to
comply with the ISO 9002 quality standard. Policies were reviewed,
rewritten, and a comprehensive quality manual was prepared. MR&S
was certified by the ISO audit team on its first audit. Early
certification was evidence for the fundamental quality orientation which
10 years of experience servicing Fortune 100 clients impresses upon an
organization.
